Annual Business Dinner

The Annual WPSNE Business Dinner was held on January 24th at Hanscom AFB Minuteman Club with 50 members and guests in attendance. Society President Dale Kurtz presented a summary of the Society’s activities for 2008 which culminated with the designation of the WPSNE by the West Point Association of Graduates as a Distinguished Society.

WPSNE is one of a small handful of societies world-wide that has achieved this designation for 14 consecutive years since it is inception. As required by our constitution this event included the election of new members of the WPSNE Board of Governors (see related article by Fred Rice).

The highlight of the evening was a presentation by BG(R) Kevin Ryan USMA ‘76 of I-Robot, Inc. on robotic applications on the war on terror. With over 5,000 robots deployed and in use, members learned about the role they play in safeguarding and facilitating the mission of US soldiers. As reflected in the accompanying photo (from Dale) , General Ryan’s classmates showed up in full force to support his efforts, as the “Spirit of ‘76″ class had 9 members in attendance. Next to Founders Day this is the Society’s most important gathering and networking opportunity. We look forward to seeing more of our membership turn out in January 2010.
